Kids love these homemade dancing ribbon wands and rings. This DIY toy is easy to make and encourage movement, dancing, and fun imaginative play just add some music and the kids are good to go!
My daughter loves music and dancing and being the little princess she is I knew she would love to play with dancing ribbons.
These homemade dancing ribbon wands and rings would make great handmade gifts for little ones. Perfect for birthdays, a surprise in the Easter basket or stocking stuffers!
How to make dancing ribbon wands
SUPPLIES
- Small wooden dowel
- Ribbon in the colors of the rainbow or your choice of colors (Our ribbon was purchased at our local Dollar Tree store.
- Craft Bell
- Small metal eyehook
- Scissors
- Lighter
- Paint *(optional)
DIRECTIONS
- Cut your ribbon to the desired length
- Cut your dowel to the wands desired length
- Screw eye hook in top of the dowel
- Paint the dowel if desired
- Tie a ribbon to the eyehook
- Tie a bell to the top of the wand
- To stop your ribbon from fraying, quickly run the ribbon ends through a flame from a lighter, This will melt and seal the ends.
How to make dancing ribbon rings
SUPPLIES
- Wooden Ring (or even shower curtain rings.)
- Ribbon in the colors of the rainbow or your choice of colors (Our ribbon was purchased at our local Dollar Tree store.
- Scissors
- Lighter
DIRECTIONS
- Cut your ribbon to the desired length (note: they are going to be tied in half on the rings
- Tie each ribbon on the ring as shown in the photos below, double knotting them
- To stop your ribbon from fraying, quickly run the ribbon ends through a flame from a lighter, This will melt and seal the ends.

This reminds me of when I used to twirl a baton, I would tie ribbons at the end. We even did glow in the dark ribbons and also when we put on shows, we had a black light and the ribbon would glow also.
Oh how fun, my daughters would love glowing batons! We will defiantly have make some, and we just bought a black light for some science experiments we are going to do.
