
W & Q design studio by two young female designers from China Siwen Huang and Qiongjie Yu, the two graduated from the University of London and Central Saint Martins College.This is the latest project – “Redesign & Rebirth Chairs” handmade bamboo chair they brought in the 2012 London Design Festival.
Bamboo in Chinese history played a huge role in the economic development and cultural enhancement. Zhejiang Province - hometown of bamboo in China, contains a large number of bamboo resources and its utilization is also involved in many aspects of life of the locals. W & Q is sensitive to discover and try to explore from the traditional Chinese arts and crafts, and to assess the relationship between traditional and modern design, and explains the critical path of sustainable development in the works of art in China, given the significance of its cycle of rebirth, which is combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern design new journey.
