My friend was telling me she has always wanted to do a baby butt print painting. I was happy she came to me to try it especially since I recently had a baby too! Plus  Mother’s Day was coming up, it was perfect timing. Although it is a fun project just to do in general and a great gift for many occasions… We love how they turned out, looking like butterflies, hence the name “Baby Butt-erflies Canvas Painting” 🙂

~ Supplies ~

  • Acrylic Paint
  • Canvas (size of your choice we used 16×20)
  • Paintbrush to apply paint to baby butt
  • Baby butt

We started with my friends baby girl (above). We used acrylic paint and painted baby’s butt. One person holds the child in a sitting position from the back the other holds the legs and you basically use the child as a stamp. After we finished my friends’ artwork we let it dry.

While prepping to do my baby. My five year old said she wanted to do it too, so that’s why ours (below) has big butt-erflies and little ones! 🙂 We dig my oldest first then stamped the baby on top of hers.

We had alot of laughs and fun while making this! All the kids did amazing we were a little worried about the babies but they did great through the whole process, no tears!

After the paintings dried, we varnished them with 3 coats of spray varnish and 3 coats of UV spray varnish for extra protection.
